Oak Tree Boulevard South
Over the past few years, the City of Independence has been prioritizing and scheduling major roadway repairs in the Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). The CIP is a fiscal management tool used to coordinate the phasing and financing of capital improvements over a multi-year period.
Included in this year’s CIP is the resurfacing of Oak Tree Boulevard South. The project includes the repair of the existing concrete roadway joints, drive apron replacements, catch basin repairs, and asphalt resurfacing. Much of the concrete work in front of driveways will take place on the weekends to minimize traffic impact and access issues to buildings.
In an effort to improve pedestrian mobility in this area, the project also includes a new 10-foot wide concrete pedestrian path in the center grass median of Oak Tree Boulevard South. The plan is to include funding in the CIP for 2016 to install streetlights and landscaping along the pedestrian path.
The Oak Tree Boulevard South project started in mid-June and is expected to be complete by the end of the 2015. Please contact the City’s Engineering Department at 216.524.1374 with any questions about the project.
